Installing textures easily!
I like seeing everybodies texture packs that they create! (Especially APOCOCRAFT! Its my Fav!) But I started thinkin', "I Want to make a texture pack!" but i don't know how.
So if one of you peoplez would be so kind as to tell/show me how to make my own texture pack. If there is already a thread on that, plz send me a link to it.
Thanks a LOT! 8D
If you got the reference, congratulations, you are a total nerd.
Anyway, I assume you want to know how to make new models and such. This is simple. If you want to make, say the hammer in SMP's realistic pack, you would simply edit the sword file in paint or something to look like a hammer. The same goes for armor. Armor is trickier, as you have to refine it to exactly how you want it. Happy modding!
Thanks Mythyes3! That really helped!
8D YAY!
just a question
may i ask what kind of texture you are gonna make?
i would like to test it for you :D
I appreciate the thanks, and that you now can be a contributer!
I agree with niels, and would also like to be a tester.
(Yay! Daedal got my reference!)
Since I'm not expierinced in pixel art, im just gonna play around with it a bit. If i come up with somethin i like then i will let you test it but for now. I'm not even sure what im gonna make.
How do you eliminate the big white square around the tools?
What if in one's %temp% folder there is no www.minecraft.net OR minecraft.net. nothing minecraft

You ask a good question, grasshopper. You see, to make a texture, one opens up one's temp folder, (search %temp% on the run menu) And finds the folder www.mincraft.net or something like that. then, open up the minecraft.jar file in whatever mode you want to edit; i.e., if you want to edit indev, open the jar file in Minecraft_sneakpeek. Then, use a program like WinZIP to view the file. Just view it, don't extract it or anything. You should see files like armor, and ground and such. These can be opened by your favourite image editing program, like paint or photoshop and such. Edit the image as you will, and save it to that folder.
If you want to post a texture, first edit the main texture and save it to new folder with the EXACT same name as the source folder, i.e., if you got it from the armor folder, your new folder would be named armor. Then post, and watch the downloads come in.
I hope this helps. If you need more info, email me at
