Allright, this is my first post here, but it's an issue i've had for a while. I've been playing minecraft only for a few weeks now, but from day one I noticed that, allthough I checked that the game was on easy, the moment night fell hundreds of hostile mobs would decend and make it near impossible to play.

Not only because there are so many at night, but because often i'd hide away in my base through the night, then ascend to find about thirty creepers all together, setting off a chain reaction and carving a hole in the planet. And this happens every single night.

I've also noticed that there are insane amounts of non hostile mobs around, it's not uncommon for me to round a corner and come upon HUGE pig herds that slow my game down.

I don't think this is normal, simply through watching videos of the game, but I'm not sure. Either way, I'm sick of playing on peaceful and I want to be able to play the actual game in its entirety. Help?

create a new world if it

create a new world if it still happens on the new world (most likely will) uninstall and install the game again.

O-o 30 creepers a night?

O-o 30 creepers a night? Scary. I would suggest deleting everything minecraft and then redownloading it.
Search %appdata% then delete .minecraft. if you want to keep your saves make backups before you do this.

Nevermind!I know i just said

Nevermind!

I know i just said it was fixed, but...

apparantly not. They're back again en masse.

So, i did a little research to define my 'symptoms'. Firstly, aren't mobs supposed to vanish if you're out of their range for a while? I left a zomb on my roof and left for about ten minutes, a good couple hundred blocks away, and it was still there when I came back.
Secondly, I saw a slime. Now, I see plenty of posts and such about how so and so can't find any slimes, so i was kinda surprised to run into one. What surprised me more was that he was on the surface, in a tree. He was right near me so I bolted, and when i turned back he was gone. I dunno about that one.

I've been collecting some screenshots, but sadly I lost my favorite one due to a crash. It was pig armageddon. There had to have been at least 25 of the things, all in a really small area. At least I got a lot of food, eh?

I'll mention that the problem WAS fixed, until I installed a texture pack and the Skylands world, when everything went ape again. I havn't tried my old test worlds again yet to see if they're overrun too, but it's late so i'll do it tomorrow.

Bumping

I'm still having this problem after the halloween update, and i managed to get a pretty good screenshot to show what i mean...

Okay, this screenie is just all four directions from the top of my little wood house. I'm getting damn sick of building awesome structures and having fun just to have everything get anihilated by a random creeper i didn't see.

Not a fix but something to look at

If you check out the halloween update image notch posted on his blog here: http://notch.tumblr.com/

youll notice he even says hes making it more difficult.

Also, i see no torches. Lighting most of the time decreases enemy count around the house.
