I can only show it with this pic... My Google chrome uses about 600MB just for the classic servers page and my World of Minecraft client loads it up but scrolls through the servers too slowly and when I try to search for a server after i type in one letter i have to w8 a couple of minutes so that it filters only the servers with that letter... its ridiculous. also i noticed that one server repeats its self a million times. that's the issue i am having i think. another problem could be that the PC i am using is new and although its powerful i had some problems with it in the beginning. I am also not sure if my Java could be problematic but after a complete OS re-install the problem was still there :( someone pls HEEELP

Reason for slowdowns

My friends and I have done some research as to why this has been such an issue over the last few days. It's because someone(s) have a program that is creating a lot of fake server names and are overloading the list.

Here is more detailed information: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/887745-send-this-complaint-to-combat-hack-attempts/page__p__11343641__fromsearch__1#entry11343641

RTFA

Please read the important announcement at the top of (just about) every page on this forum regarding this very problem.

It's the minecraft classic server list that is the issue not your computers so reinstalling anything is NOT going to fix things.

The server list is overloaded with fake servers at the moment which Mojang are trying to deal with but it takes time and meanwhile the World of Minecraft client and the server list pages on minecraft.net are going to respond very slowly if it all.

Just be patient and once it's resolved things will go back to normal again (hopefully).

If you want to force the client to close because it is not responding then open the task manager (press CTRL+ALT+Delete on Windows PC's) and on the process list right-click on the entry named javaw.exe and select End Process.

When using the World of Minecraft client at the moment do not use the filter option at the top of the client window and also don't click on any of the column headings to try and sort the server list in some way or the client will stop responding.

Did RTFA ;)

"...which Mojang are trying to deal with"

They are? That's excellent news! I've been looking for any documentation of them recognizing the problem and so far I haven't seen anything. Often they tend to keep us in the dark about those kinds of things.

Either way if we want to fight back as a community, my link above is the best legal way to go about combating this problem.

thing at the top of every page on World of Minecraft

Announcement:

There are a lot of threads showing up lately about the World of Minecraft Client being laggy.

This is due to the issues with the Minecraft.net Server List which should be sorted out soon on their end. We are also taking measures to prevent this from inconveniencing World of Minecraft users in the future.

In the meantime, the client will still launch, it takes a while to initially load. Also avoid using the server filter box in the World of Minecraft Client.
