Installing textures easily!
I got a purchased version of the game a few days ago and have been playing around with making my own avatar skins.
I did have a question however for the community, is it possible to make parts of your avatar transparent.
Lets say I wanted to do, a floating brain with a spine coming from it, I'd change the top/bottom/left/right/front/and back of the head and then put like a spine on the body, but say I don't want to show the arms or legs, is that possible?
I tried just erasing blocks but they appear as white, making them black appears as black, etc.
I just started looking around and apparently there IS a way to do it, though I'm not sure how they achieved this.
Go to a skins page and look for the skeleton:
http://skins.tkte.ch/
It's rib cage has the in between bits as transparent.
Also the "flying dice" have just the head as a dice that's floating in the air.
Because i have a skin called "Invisible Man"
you can look for this skin although its not called "invisible man"
i found it in the Skin Index - or the skindex
you can find it faster if you use ctrl + f
when you do save the file
then upload it
or you can preview it by clicking the image
but thats pretty useless because it is invisible and you cannot see anything
the skindex has some incredibly crazy skins so you may be able to find some stupid looking ones like floating eyes or skeleton or pigs
yup u cant get transperity ingame with damn suckes i wanned to make a creeper skin that had no arms and scare people with it
=(

oops sry posted it twice
you can do transparency just google minecraft skin editor dl it and if your dont put pixel it will be invisible so if you dont design anything in arm ingame you wont have harm i know i used to have a floating head my first days XD
Transparity parts will be replaced whit the skin you have before buying it (Online) (Sory for my bad english)
no dark the part wont be replaced whith the skind editor i talked a bout i know i used to have a flying head
And I quote the "skinedit" tool...
Do note that the skin that will appear will be the picture that you used before you made it completely transparent... for example if I took a completely white image and applied transparency over all of it and loaded it up on minecraft, my character will be completely white. This means that the alpha layers are being completely ignored for the body.
(look at mah name)
I'm glad it doesn't support transparency.
You might want to use it for a floating head or something alongst those lines, but there will be people who'll just make a 100% invisible character.
You can make transparent skins
Here is trasnparent character 3rd person and inventory:

Can you post a skin file where transparency works?
How? I want to make a skin where most of it is invisible. Is there a special character?
Transparency works for me in game, but no in SkinEdit :o

There is a transparancy character template just put it in minecraft.jar like normal
I got tired of reading people commetns saying yes & no sooooooo IS IT YES OR KNOW OMFG
I recently got a "boo" skin from skindex and it looks like it was floating in the preview. But when I tried it out, it just came up as a black body instead of transparent.
WoM Coins: -3
Unfortunately, no, you cannot make your body transparent at all. The only part you can make Transparent is the Crown (The area next to your head). I was also disappointed by this because I wanted to make a 02 Skin.
