Ok so i've heard of people having a problem with having two different accounts for mine craft on one computer. The problem im having is that my younger brother had bought mine craft after I did, he made a map and started playing. then when i logged in i noticed his map on my account. so out of curiosity i got him to log into his own account and play my map. out of my surprise his was logged in as himself playing as me!!!!! will this affect my account and map if he were to ever screw around with my map. is there a way i can lock him out of the map. and can i play my single player map from any other computers? any help would be great.

Its because assuming you are

Its because assuming you are using windows, minecraft stores the saves and things in the same folder for each profile. The solution? Make a new profile on your conputer and move your maps there

Won't work

Simply, the way it works is it looks for the map data in a specific folder location. Creating a second profile will work as it will look for the map data in a different folder. Where as changing the folder will mean you'll have to recode it, and then you might as well code it so it only checks what player is on, or so it lock the worlds.

To move it to another computer you have to have admin privileges on both computers, and then you can also copy the whole of the minecraft files to save yourself from re-installing too, and redoing the server list/IP's. The map will stay the same as before, but you might want to delete it off the one it came from, and then you can delete your bro's map off the new location.

The easy solution is to threaten to ruin your bro's game if he ruins yours.

I hope this helps.

Another way is to make a new

Another way is to make a new account so your minecraft files are in there own .minecraft folders and switch users each time you want to play minecraft.

Either you mean the same thing Ltin and I do by "profiles", or you're talking about what they've already done, and have the problem with, having two Minecraft accounts.

Hmmmm

What creepersregret says would work if they have admin privelidges, and I'm sure it does work because they would be stored separately.

Maps are saved and loaded in

Maps are saved and loaded in 1 directory no matter what account is logged in

That is wrong, only minecraft

That is wrong, only minecraft accounts on the same computer account will share the same directory, however 2 or more computer accounts, will have there own minecraft files even with the same minecraft accounts, this is because minecraft files are stored under the appdata folder in your computer account's folder.
