The .jar file in the lib folder has no size. So even after I replace it with the file from https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/classic/minecraft.jar
, when i open it, it updates again!!
I have found that the software updates from this url :
http://www.minecraft.net/client/minecraft.jar
the file in this url is of the size 0kb. So this problem is server-side. The admin of the server has to change the files inorder for it to work.
If we could redirect the update from the http://www.minecraft.net/client/minecraft.jar to https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/classic/minecraft.jar , WE ARE SAVED!!!
SO ADMINS!!! PLEASE CHANGE THE FILE!!! PLZZZZZZZZZZZZ
O hai there kannon. I'm having the same issue, I've redownloaded minecraft.jar 9 times. Only to have it work for one day before becoming 0 kb the next.
Yes, PLEASE redirect it to https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/classic/minecraft.jar
I got it! Lets contact the man who made the client. Im sure that he'll change it. I looked into the bat file. But it seems that the url is embedded in the java files. As idk a thing abt java. I cant do anything to fix it.

EDIT: I think I see where you are coming from now. I thought you meant that the World of Minecraft admins change Minecraft.jar itself, but that is impossible due to Minecraft.jar being the property of Minecraft. But what you are saying is that the admins need to change the location of where Minecraft.jar updates.
