This is my first time trying to build a city and It's kinda pointless if I don't have villagers.
The 2 villagers I have have been in that pin for hours and haven't gotten all lovey dovey yet.
Here is what i did:
I transported both of those villagers (by minecart) from a village over 500 blocks away. It took about 8 in-game days to get them there. and then I put them in one of the houses while I built the spawning house. l have a total of 27 doors on top of that house currently.
If you notice something wrong please tell me, I want to continue with my city as soon as possible.

You don't need just doors, you need 'houses' but that can still be very compact. The minecraft wiki shows what counts. But the setup with just doors sitting under the sky won't help you at all.
