Was playing today just fine, then all of a sudden I get a weird,
whited-out Mojang logo that hangs, then after a bit coughs up this crash
message:

java.nio.BufferOverflowException
        at java.nio.DirectByteBuffer.put(Unknown Source)
        at java.nio.ByteBuffer.put(Unknown Source)
        at fu.a(SourceFile:148)
        at fu.a(SourceFile:62)
        at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.i(SourceFile:977)
        at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(SourceFile:595)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

I deleted the bin directory & reinstalled Java, but the problem
persists. I get the same error running the game in Firefox. Another
computer in the house runs my account just fine.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Okay, after much flogging

Okay, after much flogging around, I figured out the problem was a texture pack.  I just edited .minecraft\options.txt to switch out the culprit for a known performer, & bingo, no more BufferOverflowException shenanigans.
