like when i open the World of Minecraft thing with the mincraft grass icon it tells me to sign in with the minecraft.net login and a direct link to a server? can someone help me?

you just need to use the username and password that you used when you first signed up on http://www.minecraft.net/

you only need a direct link to a server if you decide not to use the normal login

DO NOT use the username/password that you used to sign up to this site (unless it is the same as your minecraft.net username/password)
