So I downloaded a Minecraft torrent to try it out (I know I did a wrong thing, you can go on and flame me) and I started enjoying it. It's alpha version 1.1.2

Now I am planning to buy the game because I really like it. The problem is I've already spent quite a lot of time on Minecraft and I think that if I buy the game, the save file won't work as it's a different version.

Is there anything I can do to make the save work with the beta version?

If the save file does not work i'll be very suprised please post it to filefront.com as a zip file and send me the link I'd be happy to test it for you if you don't want to buy it yet

Yup!

You may have to move the file into the save folder but you're good to go! (Massive world by the way 7mb?!)

And yea it's pretty big now, I've made an underground railway and several traps and stuff. Do you like it? :P

And btw what about the new updates? For example will different biomes appear if I try to open the save file in the beta version? Tbh I can't understand how it will work.

Anyway probably not randomly appear but if you go exploring you might long flat land or snowy mountainy areas. I think only new world created will change. I don't know when this got released but if you destroy a tree the leaves destroy themselves and drop saplings (helpful) and Notch will soon add an update with water mobs and some more stuff (he adds almost daily) You can also collect eggs to throw at monsters (that's fun :p)

If I may ask 1 last favour, can you please try to make a watch (you need 4 gold and 1 redstone I think) or try to catch fish, so I can be sure the updates work correctly with the save file if I buy the game? Because these 2 things aren't present in the version I have. The leaves decaying on their own already works in my version though.

Of course I don't mind if you use invedit lol, the save is yours now, you can do whatever you want with it. But if you want to play legit, you will find anything in the chests in the main base which is near the spawn point.

But anyway, thanks again for taking the time to help me out, I really appreciate it :D
