World of Minecraft client 1.8.3 single player help

When clicking the 'single player' button on the World of Minecraft client, the client just closes and nothing happens.
The client 1.6.6 works ok and creates a world when I click 'single player' but not the 1.7x and later versions I tried.
Is that a known issue or just me?

The 1.7 and 1.8 series have a bug with the single player mode. I have half fixed it, but it's still not working yet.
