World of Minecraft doesnt actually connect to a server.

I have a locally created server, which other people, and myself using the Minecraft client are able to connect to.
The problem is that if I use the World of Minecraft client, it doesnt really connect to the server. It just creates its own map and lets me run around in creative mode (Whereas the server is Alpha)
