Ok, the new client is great. They way it downloads the minecraft file if you dont have it without opening any extra windows and the login screen is much more user friendly.
But, when i choose which server to go on to, it loads up the java screen and freezes claiming it has stopped responding. I have tried restarting the app. and it has not worked.
Any help would be appreciated ;)

Me 6. I'm using Debian Linux, I run it in teh terminal and it seems that it works but I cannot see anything through a white screen. I went in some rando-server and in the terminal it shows everyone talking.

I have gotten this error 3 times now.
What the solutions that worked for me are one of the following:
Delete, and re download. (putting into another file directory may work if this does not work for you.)
Reinstall java
Update java
Uninstall outdated versions of java (e.g if you have java 6 update 25, uninstall java runtime environment 6. This fixed a problem for me)
These are all the solutions I can some up. Until Triddin develops a fix the next update, be sure to use these.
