Since the other topic did not grab any attention, i thought i would make my own. Every time i try to run World of Minecraft it says "Downloading Update" then "The Application will now quit. It should pick up up the updated applet version when restarted". So after that is said and done i try to run again i get the exact same thing. Every time I try to run it says it updating every single time. I've been able to get on a couple times during the part 3 days but other than that I've been getting this update error. Also, I've tried re-downloading the client and the .jar file but that doesn't work either. I would appreciate any help.

i might have same problem, dunno. got a message few mins ago readin
the World of Minecraft client is now updating to beta stance like the real mincraft site do happy waitin :)
you should have noticed that on notch's blog
i know its updating to beta, but thats not the reason, This has been happening for 4 days now, and everyone else on my server has been able to get on, except for me of course. This is classic were talking about, not alpha/beta.
i had the problem, i went onto IRC and asked, IP said that i should try re-installing the minecraft.jar file, put it in the same folder but just replace the old one, it has been working since, hope this helps =)
I had a somewhat good framerate, but now that i reached beta its super slow.
Any one has the same problem?
why is this happening today, i was on it yesterday and all WAS well WTF?
also, how can we play minecraft from the site itself after this STUPID update?
ahh the classic error; fix it plz, ppls, its not just me!
(ClassLoader.java)
I get the same thing as Captain_Alex.
Everything was fine, something wierd caused me to logout then in.
Then I got an update. Now I get crap. main class not found.
I am hoping this an Oooops, forgot to package a class or something and it will be fixed soon.
How are we meant to re-install it though??
downloaded again and it works now

same problem here.........................
+ World of Minecraft site gives alot of
500 Internal Server
or
Bad Gateway
Everytime you run it after putting the minecraft.jar in lib folder, it does the "Downloading update", gets a much larger minecraft.jar file (I'm assuming its the beta version) then shuts down.
Running it again gives a could not find main class error. Is this going to get fixed?
Or does anyone know of a way to tell it to not update itself ?
i have the same problem, when it updates the minecraft.jar becomes zero kb and when i get a new one, it updates and becomes zero kb agian. i am having this problem on windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.5.8
Minecraft has migrated all their data to a new server cluster. Womclient seems to be struggling with the change.
What is happening is womclient is getting updated, but the file
"minecraft.jar" isn't on the server it used to be, so the minecraft.jar
in your womclient/lib folder has become 0kb. Empty. You need to
re-download minecraft.jar from :
https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/classic/minecraft.jar
and
put it in your womclient/lib folder. Keep a copy of womclient and the
minecraft.jar file because you will probably have to do this again
later.
To prevent womclient from updating again do this :
1. Disconnect from your network.
2. Start womclient , don't login yet.
3. Re-connect to your network
4. Wait a few secs to be sure you are connected properly
5. Login to womclient.
6. Pray you can connect to a server.
This is the only semi-reliable solution at the moment.

dont works at all now... it says update i recopy it it say update recopy it it says update...
well is the client totaly gone now?
dammit ops, pay attention to us!
There is also another solution that is a little less hassle, as it doesn't mean you have to disconnect.
