Hi all! I wanted to introduce an idea for a TEMPORARY 1.8 vanilla minecraft server, ran by us for you guys to hang out on. I know it's frustrating to wait for us to be able to update the SMP and Nexus servers, and I was hoping this would help some of that frustration.

For this server, there would be no plugins. (That's what vanilla means). That means no land claims, no money, etc. It would be simply a place for everyone to hang out and try some of the new things added in 1.8, or just sit around and talk to your World of Minecraft friends. Nothing you have on SMP would go to this server, and nothing you do on this server would be saved for the future.
I know that a lot of you have just been playing single player 1.8 while you wait for the update just to mess around. This would be like that. Just a place to mess around and explore while you kill time waiting for the real servers to update.
The Downside: The main downside of this server would be that we would need to take Nexus and CMP offline while we run it. But considering there are very few of you who play on the server at all at this point, I don't think that would matter much. Another downside would be since there are no plugins, the world would basically be open to griefing and destruction. However, if you're caught intentionally causing problems for people, you will still be banned just like the normal server. Chat rules will still be enforced by the staff at all times.
This server does not exist yet. I've suggested it to MrSnowGlobe. However, if I can show him that the community is interested in it, and it won't sit around empty, it is much more likely to happen. So let me know what you guys think about it!

YESSSS! Definitely interested! That's pretty much what I do anyways is play random vanilla 1.8 servers. PvP/Griefing or not I would play either way.

This is an outstanding idea, a great way it interact with the new release at its basic level.

I do like the idea, but what about planning stuff for build moves and whatnot? Any idea how/when that would be going down if this goes on?

This would not effect the current 1.7 SMP server where that would happen in any way.

but i dont think i would join too often considering i barly ever play on the 1.7 server. and since the temp 1.8 wont have any plugins id rather not have to deal with all the BS from people griefing and crap
