Normal potions will still work as usual.
So there has been many complaints about people getting killed by splash potions outside of SMP.
Obviously this is inconvenient for those that want to use splash potions in their home, so we're looking for community feedback here.
Would you guys rather have splash potions enabled everywhere or just the arena's?

Yeah, if it was possible to disable only splash potions and not normal ones then that would be best. Not really sure how that works. If that's not an option then i would vote having them only in pvp. Too many times where i would teleport to someone to trade and find myself in a hole getting hit by splash damage.

I guess that you could always disable negative potions outside of PvP arenas, or just disable splash potions. I like to make potions, but I do not care for PvPing so now I have no use for potions other than to sell them to people that do PvP, which isn't very many. You could also make the negative potions only harm mobs, such as swords and bows do outside of PvP.
No just negative splash potions should have no effect in pvp.

Well, I think potions should be enabled everywhere unless the player want's a no-potion area in there claim, If someone made or purchased a potion its only fair that they can use them anywhere, Who cares if you get attacked by a splash potion? I didn't even think you could kill people outside PvP? I just think people shouldn't be getting so angry over getting attacked by a potions, And then complaining to Staff... -.-
The splash potions are what was letting people kill each other outside of pvp, that was the problem. People randomly killing other people to take their stuff.
Thats a good idea or another idea is a comand that lets you enable splash potions from other players everywhere but pvp arena. (also a command that lets you be attacked so you can pvp everywhere would be awsome)
Wow. I must say, you the people who disabled potions, are ignorant. This is has rendered chemist useless in Mob Arena and ruining the experience. I must say that your decision has been highly ignorant.
Because a simple "can you reallow potions in the mob arena" would have been too simple.
also, the mob arena was overlooked and has now been updated to allow splash potions.

Could you all stop flaming one another? It's quite disrespectful and it shows that you guys cannot be mature when being asked about potions. Now all that was required of you is your opinion on this new idea and NOT to be rude towards each other.
Well disable all Splash Potions.
If I am correct, arrows fired from dispensers can hurt players anywhere. Lava can be dumped on players underground or in your claim. Players can be shoved off cliffs. You can dig a deep pit, stand on a single block over the top, hold shift, and send a /tpahere. You can invite a player to test out your fancy piston door that turns out to be a cunningly disguised suffocation trap. You can drop sand on their head. You can lure hostile mobs behind their back.
Ban arrows, ban dispensers, remove lava, nuke fall damage, nuke suffocation, remove mobs. Say no to damage. Make death impossible. Then World of Minecraft SMP will be a happy place, with people swimming around the nether, hugging creepers, and not bothering to light their towns.
But please, please don't touch regular potions. Potions are highly useful outside of PvP. I personally carry a few fire resistance potions with me every time I go to the Nether, and I use a potion of strength right before I tackle cave-spider spawners.
The point is, there are so many other ways players can hurt each other besides weapons and potions, and potions can be used for constructive purposes. Preventing players from going around and relieving others of their hard-earned inventories and XP is important, but a hard-line "no potions" policy goes too far.
Regular potions (the ones you have to drink) should be kept completely unrestricted. Nobody can be affected by them without their consent. Splash potions should be restricted to use on mobs, just like swords and arrows. And if possible, implement a splash-potion switch (just like a PvP-switch) where users can choose whether to allow splash potions to be used on them.
I hope the staff of World of Minecraft can create a customized solution to this problem that does not require a total and complete ban of all potions altogether.
DISCLOSURE: I own a few potion shops on the server, and they provide the majority of my income. After the ban, people only buy harmful and healing potions, leaving the rest of my stock to sit there unpurchased.
If H4X removes everything that can damage a player, they why not just change SMP (survival muit-player) to CMP (creative muit-player) cause that is what your saying. he just removed splash potions NOT bottle potions. now if people are falsely told about something and they die like "hey tp to me and you can get a diamond" and they do use the tpa to get there and die down a deep hole, they its on the person themselves and not World of Minecraft's fault. Passive and Hostile Mobs are to be on SMP or you just killed the whole idea of SMP. Arrows out of dispenser only take what half a heart away from you with no armour on so why remove it, its not going to kill you unless you are stupid and keep on going in front of the dispenser over and over again. Lava can only be placed in areas of the map that YOU claim only not anywhere else, sorry your point right there is invalid. i just see it as this, you want a server where you dont die and just build. i want to survive in a server with mobs everywhere. SMP= Survival. maybe you should look for a CMP server

I have to totally agree with _mine_craft on this one, it's funny to me that this is almost stemming into the current right to bare arms debate. Do we get rid of firearms because people are killing people with them, or do we just make them harder to be used, or do we just allow them to exist as is because people can kill people regardless.
My personal opinion on the matter is as such: to take away the potions because people kill with them is exactly like taking away pickaxes or other build utensils because people grief with them. Now that we've established that killing outside a pvp area is against the rules, instead of banning the potions, just ban the player using them. Much like griefing, if one griefs another's build then they get banned, simple as that. So, on the flip side if someone kills someone outside a pvp area in any way, they get banned, simple as that. There are countless ways to my understanding to record this sort of thing much like with griefing to show that someone was killed outside pvp.
So in closing, no banning potions or even limiting them, just make harsher penalties if someone does use them in a way that's against the rules...

I care only about the good potions such as, Fire Resistance, Swiftness, Strength, and healing. I want there to be no splash potions so there can still be potions but none that can effect other players outside of pvp but in pvp i dont really care. Splash potions of healing can be not used at all really because poeple with be annoying and spam someone with instant healing splash potions and will also do the same with splash potions of Swiftness. Just please dont ban potions entirely. Okay?
I agree because people ARE killing people randomly outside of pvp. Pvp is only an area where they could kill each other, other than that blocking potions (I think) is a good idea.
It will mean more work for admin and staff if U do not ban the potions as U will be foreva banning ppl who use them.... Especially when no staff R on.... Or when staff like sonardo go round killing ppl for points on the leaderboard..

Negitive splash potions should be intagrated with the pvp switch (if there is one)
Just the negative splash potions are the real problem not positive splash potions
One problem that effects mobs that is cave spiders but this is good in my cave spider xp grinder setup that is in development. Luck me
