1.4.6 Warning + SMP Updates

So with 1.4.6 just launching I can not stress enough that the World of Minecraft Public SMP WILL NOT update until there is a stable Bukkit build available. I will update this thread when there is progress.

 

In other news:

We say goodbye to the Clans plugin as it caused a massive server crash today. I had to remove it to get rid of the issues, however: I will keep a close eye on the plugin's development if there is an update out. 

Clans will only return if it stops effecting the server's performance. I am actively looking for a suitable replacement for it but for the time being the server will be 'clanless'.

Christmas Build Info!

The contest has now ended, thank you to all who took part, results expected 9th/10th January.

Every person in the contest gets one 39x39 plot. These will work like the shops in the new world, just right click the sign and the plot will be claimed for you. You can build as high as you want in your plot, but remember that it isn't just a competition of who can build the highest, if something is too repetative, the judges will get bored of it.

Almost anything is allowed in the contest (redstone and pixelart included), but it has to follow a christmas theme (Kinda in the name of the competition :P)

A few items like eggs and potions have been disabled as we decided that they did not add that much to any building, but could cause serious server lag if everyone decides to go crazy with them.

Beacons have also been disabled as we do not want skylights everywhere and random beacon effects as we move around.

There are no teams, everyone does their own build.

Rules:

  • Normal server rules apply, and normal server punishments will be given out.
  • No trying to change any blocks outside of your area, If you do, you will be removed from the contest.
  • Please no trying to shoot/throw things out of your area, that is just annoying to other people who are trying to build.

To get to the Contest world, just type: /comp.

The SMP has had some more updates!

Changes & Tweaks

  • You can now access the Previous SMP map via /oldsmp
  • The World of Minecraft Easter map has come back from the dead for build transfers. Access it via /oldersmp for a walk down memory lane
  • The command /fly has been enabled in both old SMP maps for easy access to builds
  • Inventories have been detached from the Old SMP Maps
  • Items now have a proper Worth
  • Waiting Rooms added to spleef to reduced loading lag before the match

Also the whitelist was quietly fixed and everyone affected by its down time should now have access to the server.

World of Minecraft Christmas Build Off 2012

Now that the new map is finally here, it is time to announce the World of Minecraft Christmas build off 2012. (Which I think is the first staff run contest on SMP)

There is going to be a flat area with a series of plots made on it so that people do not need to level their own land, and so that the judges do not need to go hunting to find the entries. 

People will be given creative mode for this contest, just to make sure that it is all fair, otherwise people who had been here longer would have more of a chance. This means staff can enter.

New SMP Map!

Christmas has come a little early here at World of Minecraft and we have been eager to get this new map ready for you guys and as of this post, it has been launched on our SMP server!

Here is the final SMP Change & Updates List

On this map you will see a beautiful new spawn made by MrSnowGlobe and wolftone1916 plus a path to the new places on the map. This includes the new market area where pre-made stalls have been setup which you can buy and we can launch our new economy system properly! Further on, around a massive lake are many plots that have been setup for people to build beautiful houses. We decided to set it this way so spawn is more organised than last time but if you don't want to pay for a plot, you can just build further out in the wild if you so wish. Please be generous though and only buy a plot that you will actually use! This goes for shops too.
 
Other interesting attractions include Pig Racing, Spleefing, deadlypixel69's Aerasume, The Farmlands and a lot more including arenas that are still being worked on.
