You just have to download minecraft.jar. Search the website for the link and go to a new page so if you type in the link, there is a download thingy. Put Minecraft.jar in the lib folder in your minecraft folder and then press the run icon. Just search it up on youtube and you will find the answer too.

Very good guide except it's not very user-friendly. The instructions are way too vague. A lot of "if you didn't do this then you didn't read!" Even though you are trying to follow the instructions but the solution isn't working out for you. Looks like it's written by some one that's been dealing with stupid people for way too long and is getting tired and bitter.

FOR THE PEOPLE THAT GET ERROR: FAILED TO RUN MINECRAFT and CAN'T FIND MINECRAFT.JAR
If you already have the minecraft,jar in the lib folder and it gives you the error message, here is one possible way to fix this. If you have WINRAR on your computer, UNINSTALL it. Then rerun the World of Minecraft client and you shouldn't get the error and it will work fine. This happened to me, and that is how I fixed it.
(I do not know if the hacks don't work with and other kind of downloader or not) I hope this helps.

There are so many complaints and posts that I can barely read them all without getting annoyed. Does anyone yet have a solution to the main problem, that everyone has the . jar in the right folder, but the run.bat gives the same generic sequence.
This is quite annoying, so much so that people are tending to give up. I don't see what is wrong, I would at least like a solid explination to as why it doesn't work as apposed to how to make it work, other than the comon "it's not working 'cause you put it the wrong folder".

Did any of you even think to try the minecraft.net website? where the URLS to all the servers point to and the List is maintained? It's down. The creators took the site down or they were hacked or maybe had a BSOD or their ISP cut them off, who knows for sure.
The site is pingable though, so I'm guessing that the server just needs to have thier website cycled (IIS or Apache)
I came here because I was hopping to find some more extensive information, and possibly sites which have mirrors of the list. But it looks like there are none.. WTG MineCraft.Net, FAIL @ Infrastructure. Get some IT Guys.
